Besides the great concerts, fun rides, "healthy" food, and rad cowboys, the real entertainment is the people watching. Chardé just received a new fall shipment of Dana Kellin. For those of you who are not familiar with her work, it truly is amazing. She began her career in fashion working at Women’s Wear Daily and W Magazine, so clearly she’s got an eye. Launching her career in Hollywood, CA in 1994, Kellin is known for her hand wrapped Byzantine, Elizabethan and Victorian themes. Combing semi-precious stones with a gold-filled wire/chain keeps her pieces beautiful and affordable.

One of my favorite pieces is her triple chain Labradorite necklace. This versatile piece can be worn long, doubled, or tripled. Chardé Shimmers on and off Kirby Drive

Did you know Chardé sponsors a West University Soccer Team, the Chardé Shimmers? Their jersey color is a lovely lilac, and Chardé can be spotted on the back of their tees. Watch out for our favorite Shimmer, #3, Carly Hybarger.

I myself was a West U soccer player for about ten years and was never lucky enough to be on a team with such a cute name. I was always on The Strikers or The Raiders (and my jersey was definitely not purple!). If only the Shimmers were around back in my day....

I think their end of season party should definitely involve some type of exclusive Chardé Shimmer necklace, or soccer ball charm. We all know Cliff won't leave the Shimmers hanging.

Sapphires, September's Birth Stone

Did you know that September's birth stone is a Sapphire? Most of us know Sapphires as being blue, but they actually come in an array of colors: pink, yellow, purple, white, orange, and green. Significant sapphire deposits are found in Eastern Australia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, East Africa and in the United States near Montana.

The color in all gemstones can be broken down by hue, saturation, and tone. Hue refers to the color of the stone, saturation refers to the brightness of the stone, and tone refers to the lightness to darkness, with the most popular hue being blue.

The Jewelry Repair Superhero

Did you know Cliff Hybarger, owner of Chardé, can repair jewelry? Whether you need a simple charm soldered to a bracelet, or you ran over your favorite pair of earrings, Cliff can save the day. Trust me, after being in the business for 20 plus years, he has seen it all! Chardé specializes in all jewelry repairs, and with a turn around time of about a week, your broken baubles will look brand new. Repair prices vary and start at around $8. Dig through your jewelry box and see if you have any pieces you need fixed. If you need some inspiration, here are some basic repairs Cliff does daily: charm solders, clasp repairs & replacements, restringing, converting clips to posts & vice versa, tightening clips, chain repair.... the list keeps going.

Do you have a favorite piece that you are not wearing anymore? Recently I pulled my Rebecca Lankford necklace (similar to the one in photo a.) out of my jewelry box and brought it to Cliff to see how I could get more wear out of it. I love the design and the gold cross, but the leather was not for me. Cliff, being the genius he is, decided to put it on an 18k gold chain (photo b.), and now I never take it off! How to Use Jewelry to Create an Outfit

Are you sick of all the clothes in your closet and feel like you have nothing to wear? Instead of going shopping for clothes, go exploring through your jewelry box or stop by Chardé. Usually you accessorize your outfit according what you are wearing, well reverse that process. This summer the hottest trends are statement necklaces, bangle bracelets, and large earrings. With any one of these essential pieces, you can turn an ordinary black tank and jeans into an instant outfit!

We love how our hometown star Beyonce wears Alexis Bittar hoop earrings. This is a perfect example how one statement accessory can create an entire look. Chardé just got in a new fall shipment of Alexis Bittar, so stop by or go online to shop his statement pieces and look for other great finds!

Just remember, when you wear a statement piece don't overdo it. A large necklace does not need earrings, and vice versa. When in doubt, always take off the last thing you put on. You never want to look like you are trying too hard.

Tired of Your Necklaces Getting Tangled???

Do your necklaces always get tangled up in knots? You can always bring them up to the store and we can help you get the tangles out, OR you can change the way you store them. The best way to avoid tangles is to keep your necklace in a pouch and leave about 2" of chain hanging out of the top. This keeps the necklace in place better so it will not tangle.

However, this plan is not 100% full proof. In case you still get a knot in your necklace, the best thing to do is put it on a flat surface and get the scalpel. Just kidding...a pair of tweezers or two pin needles will do the trick (oh and some patience...which I for some reason never have). Any utensil with a fine point end will work. We recommend using the needles like chop sticks and slowly work through the tangles. It may take a while, but you do it....I promise!

We have had some amazing ex-employees work for us through out the years! June is the official Chardette Appreciation Month! Some of our Chardettes are off at school, some are out and starting careers and families, and some are bringing the next generation in shopping! It's been so much fun watching them grow up and become beautiful, successful young ladies.

Holidays and summer time is fun, because we get so many visits, and get to catch up with all the new things going on in their lives! Winter holiday time is especially fun, as the store is full of laughter and giggles when you get them all together! PLUS....they keep us current on the trends, styles and new designers they find in their ventures. Some of them come back and work during the summers and pick up the occasional weekends shifts.
